There are countless action movies, but only very few can be called groundbreaking. The three I consider smart and the very best of the genre in modern cinema are TERMINATOR – JUDGMENT DAY (USA 1991), DIE HARD – WITH A VENGEANCE (USA 1995) and DREDD (USA 2012) – not to be mistaken with that nonsense movie Sylvester Stallone starred in.
Now, Sylvester Stallone is back in THE EXPENDABLES III (USA 2014). This won’t be anywhere near the aforementionend entries, but it looks like one hell of a good time at the movies. Or as Antonio Banderas says: “Insane. Courageous, but insane.”
